Eph. 4:30 says, “And grieve not the Holy Spirit of God…”

1 Th. 5:19 says, “Quench not the Spirit.”

The word “grieve” means to make sorrowful.  And, the word “quench” means to extinguish. 

Have you ever thought how a Christian can “grieve and quench” God’s Holy Spirit in his/her life…

…by giving way to any wrong temper, foul language, or any unrighteous action.

By giving way to sin, there’s really no other way to say it, pushes the indwelling Holy Spirit out creating a twofold state of insensibility as the consequence.

Darkness… prevents the fallen state from being seen!

Hardness… prevents the fallen state from being felt!
