I began reading a book by Henry Thomas Hamblin titled “Dynamic Thought”.

I had been looking for something to read, and this book has actually been in my house for 10 years now so I thought it was about time to read it.

My first impression was another book on the subconscious mind and tapping into the “power within” through meditation, denials, and affirmations.

As I read, the author began to talk about two words… hope and faith. He stated, “Hope reaches forward and claims success, faith hold on until success is attained.”

It made me think. Most of us have hope. We hope for good health, an abundant life, good education for our children…. But how many of us truly have faith. Better yet, how does one acquire faith?

Romans 10:17 tells us… “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”

Where do you get faith… it’s free at your local church.

So, I dig into this author to find out who he is… pretty interesting fellow. Turns out his early work was in “Mental Science.”

However, he “soon found that all his use of denials and affirmations only ended in failure. Eventually, of course, he realized that what he was really seeking was “to know God and experience his Peace”. That, with the concomitant idea of one-ness with God, came the basis of all his future teaching, in which he continually emphasized that our seeking must ultimately be not through mental effort, but through acceptance and surrender, “turning the heart to the Christos”.” He knew Jesus to be his Saviour.

I’ve said once and I’ll say it again… “Seek ye first the kingdom of God…” When you do, all those personal development books, DVDs, CD, MP3s… and so on… will take on a whole new (more) powerful perspective.

Having your eyes opened to the conditions and consequences of your true spiritual gifts and calling, it will become (if it hasn’t already) blatantly apparent that you are to act as a conservative power in this current world.

As salt was used in times past to preserve substances from decay and ruin, so should we, by the preaching of the Gospel, seek to save society from corruption.

In Mt. 5:14 another example is given about being the “light of the world.”

The figure is changed, but the same idea prevails, that mankind is in a condition requiring help from a source beyond men’s own natural powers.

Each of us who know Christ as Saviour, serve as a media source of grace to others. Our personal testimony has never been more important than right NOW!

“The light of that grace received from Christ is intended for the good of ALL within the circle of its rays.” (Clarke)

Keep this in mind always as you pursue your daily life personally and professionally, and as you network on- and offline. In private. In public. At home. In the workplace. At the kids sporting events.

Never has there been a better opportunity to, “Let your light so shine before men…” (Mt. 5:16).

We should be “salty” and we should be reflecting His “light” so that everyone we come into contact with notices something different about us and the lives we are living.
