Network Marketing—That Dirty Word
If you are like me, you have been approached by a friend or business associate at one time or another about some business that is guaranteed to generate fast money. The conversation usually reveals that the business is a network marketing company. You run away as fast as you can. I have been the same way. The problem with most network marketing businesses is they take advantage of personal relationships for the purpose of making money from that individual. In essence, they abuse personal relationships and reduce them to a monetary purpose.
The good thing about the network marketing business model is that it has the ability to produce wealth faster than any other business model if successful. The scriptures encourage us to create wealth for the purpose of establishing His covenant (Dt. 8:18). He also cautions us never to let the business or money become an idol in our lives. I have always said, “If I could find a network marketing business model that I did not feel was dependent upon abusing personal relationships, I would do it.” Not everyone is called to start a networking business, but I believe everyone who uses the internet will find that network marketing today is building new relationships in ways never before realized that do not intrude but rather attract.
The opportunity to earn money by referring others in a non-intrusive manner to a website affords interested individuals an opportunity to make a clear decision without being pressured, and affords a way to build an impressive residual income without having to “hunt” people down!
